The Resource and Education Specialist is responsible for implementing services for families, handling complaint calls, providing community resources for families, for providing training and focused presentations for members of the community as it relates to CCR&R, children’s safety, health and well-being. This position serves on a team that is responsible for meeting the identified strategic needs of the organization and community as it relates to early childhood issues.
This role will assist with a variety of projects related to community events, delivery of health and safety related trainings, parent education opportunities, coaching, literacy supports, data collection and program offered to military families. The Resource and Education Specialist must have a thorough knowledge of demographic make-up of the service area, what services are being offered, assess gaps and determine what is being done to increase services to various audiences or groups.
The mission of Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) is to link members of the community to resources and support systems to enhance the quality of life all children.
Delivery of high quality, family centered services to parents in need of child care consumer education information
Delivery of high quality outreach services within the community
Provide enhanced referral services (in depth consultation) for referrals serving children under the age of 2 years or for children with identified developmental or medical needs.
Awareness of eligibility requirements for Child Care Subsidy Program and other financial resources in the community
Ability to work for families and community members from the entire economic spectrum
Maintaining and updating computer databases and writing/analyzing reports related to services provided
Ensure provisions for Resource Center services
Provide Family Engagement opportunities
Support Parent Education opportunities
Support Safe Kids Onslow efforts
Delivery of Child Care Works activities to local businesses in the community
Support Healthy Child Activities
Facilitate Health and Safety training sessions
Coordination and monitoring of EFMP Services to eligible military families
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
Other duties as assigned
Minimum of Associates Degree in Human Services, Early Education or related field
Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in human services related field
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both program and outreach settings
Experience working with socially and economically diverse families, agencies, and organizations
Independent and self-motivated, able to comply with deadlines
Energetic, self-motivated team player with a learning attitude
Excellent organizational skills and problem solving abilities
Capable of handling multiple tasks with competing priorities under minimal supervision
Able to think critically and exercise independent judgment and discretion
Results-oriented and solution-focused with a problem-solving attitude
Highly organized and able to exercise strong attention to detail
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and database management a plus
